As a Part-time Faculty at Orange Coast College, I developed the coursework for and taught two courses for non-physics majors.
The first is Conceptual Physics, an elective course for all majors that aims to offer a broad survey of canonical and modern physics subjects. Because of its broad audience, this course focuses heavily on conceptual reasoning, and uses little mathematics beyond the four basic algebraic operations. We cover the atomic hypothesis, solids and fluis, phases and phase transitions, nuclear, electricity & magnetism, waves, optics & acoustics, and Newtonian physics, in addition to a taste of quantum mechanics and relativity.
The second is Algebra-based Physics 1, a required course for many STEM majors including chemistry, biology and architecture, that covers Newtonian mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluids. Students learn to apply algebraic and conceptual reasoning to physical problems relevant to their future fields of expertise.
At UC Irvine I worked as a Teaching Assistant for two terms.
In the first term I taught Physics 3LC, the laboratory section associated with a biology-major physics course covering optics, acoustics and nuclear physics. The experiments are adapted to the biological profession, including creating a rudimentary microscope, using diffraction to measure micron-sized objects, and exploring nuclear radiation penetration depths.
In the second term I taught Physics 2, a preperatory or additional course for first year students indenting to major in physics or engineering. The course covers a wide range of mathematical topics building rapdily from word-problem reasoning all the way through to vectors and derivatives.
At the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Physics I worked as a Teaching Assistant for one semester, teaching the exercise portion Mathematical Physics 2. This is a third year advanced mathematics course for physicists, covering topology, functional analysis, the theory of finite groups and their representations, as well as Lie groups and Lie algebras. Prior to teaching this course, I co-authored a book of solved problems adapted to this course with Dr. Saša Dmitrović and Dr. Dušan Djordjević. See more about this on the Research & Projects tab.
